5 days on Seesmic so far and I'm addicted. Talk about great WOM advertising eh? It would be every marketer's dream to have someone blogging their brand name and the word addicted in the same sentence. But nope, no one has paid me to endorse this company. LOL. Yet it has sucked all my time from Facebook and Twitter lately as I continue being intrigued by these video conversations taking place among people throughout the world who are part of its current pre-Alpha stage community...and I keep formulating ways in my head on how I can integrate their platform into the user experience of The China Business Network once it re-launches this spring.
As they say, the numbers don't lie. According to founder Loic in a recent Seesmic video, there are apparently 15,000+ people waiting in queue for an invite code right now. That and a whole lot of WOM seems to add to the buzz that these guys have already generated.
I've even added the RSS feed of the public timeline onto my blog to give you all a sneak peak of what people are talking about at any given time.
Don't know what Seesmic is all about yet? Hopefully the below video will help you out with a better understanding... yours truly is featured for a few seconds about 2:46 into it. LOL.

So I've been sick the past few days and put off giving Seesmic a try. That gave me plenty of time to take the invite codes Loic gave me so I could invite some folks in my network to give this a try.
I'll post my thoughts on Seesmic in more detail in the coming days. For now, have a look and laugh at my first video. :-) ...and if you happen to be a person who has an invite code, what are you waiting for? Don't let it go to waste. Get on there and either reply to the thread or record a new one. Once I get passed the "holy crap, i'm in front of a video camera" aspect of it, I really think this platform has a lot of usefull applications for both business and social networking. More on that later...
Update: Hey, pretty cool. As soon as I recorded the above video and it fed into the timeline for others in the community to see, I received replies from different people withing minutes saying hello back and welcoming me into Seesmic. Very interactive.

Hey cool. My conversation starter regarding OCDs got picked up as a Seesmix topic on Seesmic. Now I get to share with the rest of you what drives me absolutely crazy about myself.
One week in the pre-launch community of Seesmic and I must say, it's quite addicting. You totally get over the self conscious issues of being in front of a webcam after about the 2nd or 3rd time and find yourself meeting some really cool people from around the world and joining conversations about all sorts of stuff.
Now if I can only get some more of my China friends on there...drop me a line if you're interested in an invite code. I'll work on getting you one provided you promise to get on there and join the conversation...

A big congratulations to Seesmic's Vin Vin and Giselle on their new show The Great Village. The second episode focused on learning more about reasons behind the protests in the leadup to the Beijing Olympics.
Rick Martin and I make cameo appearances in minute 5:45 and 6:20 of the video. :D
Here's Rick's thoughts on what might happen after the Olympics.
For reference, here was my original full length post that they extracted comments from.
Just wanted to note that my "business as usual" comment might have been taken out of context so I did jump back on to clarify by saying the following:
...while I remain a big fan and early adopter of Seesmic (i've met tons of great people who I now count as RL friends), I'm still waiting for a few things to happen so that the China community can start jumping into the conversations and really get a dialog going that is relevant to them.
- Group feature to allow those with similar interests to develop communitites.
- Lighter faster loading interface.
- Ability to record and view Seesmics from Twhirl (who they've acquired)
- Plugin for Joomla so that I can add video commenting to The China Business Network in much the same way as TechCrunch now has.
I'm sure it's on the way so I'll keep you all posted!

Finally got my webcam from my parents' while in LA this weekend so stay tuned for my obligatory "first Seesmic video" where I'll probably spend most the time telling the camera that it's my first Seesmic video while glancing over at the screen to see if my hair looks ok or if the camera is catching my "fat" angle. LOL. Before diving into the world of Seesmic, I've been having fun checking out what's been done so far.
I really like how they pick a topic and compile it into an entertaining few minutes of Seesmic replies. Here's one that was fun to watch where people are showing us what's in their junk drawers...or is it drunk drawers? Hard to say! Literally.
For my friends in China who haven't heard of Seesmic yet, you can hop over and read the TechCrunch article here.
You can also catch people on Twitter and join the nightly conversation as there's a group of Seesmicers on there including founder Loic Le Meur who was kind enough to give me some invite codes to pass out to my China biz friends to test out.

Facebook is how I still stay in touch with quite a few of my friends. If you're on there, feel free to add me and also join The China Business Network's group on there.
