Busy day today. I did my weekly show after a 2 week holiday break from it. Still getting over my cold so not feeling 100% but still managed to get addicted acquainted with Seesmic. Here's a super cute video of my son I want to share. He's discovering himself on the webcam and monitor for the first time while saying hello to Joe. The cool part about Seesmic that takes it a step further than just recording and uploading to YouTube is the community that is growing around the concept of talking to each other with cameras almost realtime. Case in point, as soon as I finished the video below, no more than a few minutes passed and I received reply videos from other members of the community saying hello back to Kyle. That beats a text comment on YouTube anyday. Truly interactive.
Honestly, all this joking around among snobby web 2.0 geeks aside, this concept has a real potential to take off. I look at it for its platform and potential, not its current "pre-Alpha" test mode. This video conversation format is going to replace a lot of writing on blogs as well as Twittering and voice mails. Watch, you'll see.

It's the weekend. Hard to think up really deep China thoughts. Let's keep it light and to the point shall we. This remains one of my favorite YouTube videos of all time. Always nice to reminisce on when you're tired of reading current events about Chinese hackers and want to be reminded that at their core, wired youth around the world don't really behave all that differently from country to country.
Anyways, I still manage to crack up while watching this old video for several reasons:
- The guy in the background just sitting there.
- The little guy on the left is wearing a cast on his left arm but that doesn't stop him.
- It's cool to see that college kids everywhere in the world goof off.
- This is some of the best lip synching I've ever seen.
what's really cute is after they became famous for the above video, these guys went on to be featured in a real music video where i think they really did sing. It's good to see that the little guy no longer required singing and dancing with a cast on his arm. I was starting to worry.

As we countdown to the Beijing Olympics, it looks like the folks over at Engrish.com are going to be getting fewer submissions from China if the Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau has their way.
As part of their determination to internationalize Beijing ahead of the Olympics, it appears they're on their final draft of English translations for Chinese menus.
Misleading, and often hilarious, translations such as "chicken without sexual life", "husband and wife's lung slice" or even "bean curd made by a pock-marked woman" have been replaced with "Spring chicken", "pork lungs in chili sauce" and "stir-fried tofu in hot sauce".
I bet that Chicken Without Sexual Life gets ordered a lot by tourists out of sheer curiosity. Darn. I have to admit, those menus in China have been the source of some harmless laughs during the years I was living there. I'm going to miss them.In the meantime, you have to give them credit for trying right?
Now...I wonder if someone should go around helping all the Chinese restaurants in the U.S. with their menus. Somehow placing an order for Strange Flavored Chicken and Pu Pu Platter always made me think twice. And while we're on the topic, I think someone needs to finally tell the American public that "chop suey" was invented in America.
...and ever wonder who General Tso was and how come he got a chicken dish named after him? Yea, me too.

Ok, we're all adults here...and you and I just can't be friends unless you also have a slightly twisted sense of humor. With that said, this is a hilarious commercial. Gives new meaning to "I'll have what she's having" when it comes to food. LOL. Thanks to Lonnie for always sharing things that cracks me up.
